About This Content Tenzing-Hillary Airport (better known as Lukla Airport), the gateway to Mount Everest, comes to life in this stunning airport and scenery pack from Aerosoft. Lukla is known as being the first port of call for those attempting to scale this massive mountain. During the autumn climbing season, aircraft (mostly Twin Otters), only have fifteen minutes to land and take off again as there are only four parking spaces, making it one of the busiest airports in the world. It is also the highest airport with scheduled airline flights in the world. Flying into Lukla is dangerous and complex, even in perfect weather providing a challenge for even the most seasoned pilots. Pilots soon learn that anything you do at this altitude needs to be planned and considered. Landing on the uphill runway means you have to flare in a completely different way. Taking off from the very short runway may only be possible because the runway ends with a 3000 foot drop into the valley below, complete with waterfalls. Even taxiing is a complex process due to steep taxiways!Take your FSX: Steam Edition skills to new heights with Lukla X!Features: Tenzing-Hillary Airport complete with its short, sloping, runway at 9000+ feet. High definition mesh for the entire area Based on commercially available satellite images with incredible texture detail Nearly all villages in the area (including a detailed version of Lukla Village) at their exact location with every single house based on official Nepalese maps (not standard autogen) High resolution mesh terrain and texture resolution of Mt. Everest Mountain Mount Everest base camp (helicopter destination) and other camps higher on the mountain Two additional landing strips; Phaplu and Syngboche (at 12286ft!) Some of the villages have typical Nepalese stupas (shrines) and the famous Tengboche Monastery at the Everest trekking route is included Two FSX missions with voice oversManually placed land classes, rivers and lakes. I am Christiaan. The Senery Is Wonderfull, but! the plane that the developer have choice is not compatible for this airport. It would be beter with a "Twin otter" or same type. This Airport need to be reach with powerfull planes with large wings so that the plane can maintain a low approching speed(75kts TAS).Planes such as: Cessna,Beechraft,Money Bravo and same type can not land on this airport because the minimum speed requiered is to high.Ex:appr-TAS:75kts=GS:90kts on 11500 fts.Lukla is provided With specific planes and pilots trained specialy for this runway(30 rotations from Katmando a day by normal weather!!!!. DO NOT BUY!!!! I purchased this thinking that , like all the other FSX DLC I bought, it would work and be awesome. I does not. It places the aircraft on a runway under the ground. Now for y'all who are going to say it is my system, no actually it isn't seeing as how my system is a $14,000 costum built gaming rig and it runs FSX amazingly. FSX isn't the issue it's the developer of the scenery.. Does not work correctly, and the terrain keeps appearing above the airport.Aerosoft is one of the worst companies in terms of customer service. Their customer service rep are rude, lazy and do their best to do as little as possible to try and resolve bugs.Avoid all Aerosoft product as you will get no customer service.. SO much better having Lukla in the correct spot. Get it on sale, it's completely worth it!I noticed people had complaints of it not rendering properly, but it worked fine for me. The only cause I can think of is they have freeware copies of Lukla installed still? Get rid of those first.. This airport scenery is good, but it's not great. I'll explain.Lukla is a very challenging airport to land at to say the least, and it requires a very skilled pilot to complete a full stop without crashing into the wall at the end of the runway. A slow approach just isn't slow enough, and you would think that the incline would assist you in decelerating your aircraft. The possibility of a last minute attempt at a go-around, when you've realized that you're just not going to make it, is futile. Oh, and forget landing here at night, as this version has zero night lighting, even from the buildings. With that being said, this airport can be quite fun, especially in multiplayer sessions with your friends. The mesh created for this scenery is good and blends well with the default scenery. The textures are very low resolution that results in a blurry, washed out mess. I was hoping that with all of my addons, such as REX and ORBX, that it would make the ground scenery look a bit better than the pictures, but that was not the case. The buildings are sufficient, but once again, the textures are low resolution. Lukla looks outstanding from a distance, but up close it can be a bit ugly. I honestly don't think this airport is even all season compatible, but correct me if I've wrong.I was a bit upset that they added an aircraft to the parking lot. I fly online with my buddies, and we need all the space we can get. The only airport start locations are on the runway. There are no available parking start points, even though there are four parking spots. In single player, I never observed any ai traffic landing here.Overall, I can recommend getting this airport on sale if you have watched many youtube videos on dangerous approaches and would like to attempt the Lukla experience yourself. It was an outstanding idea for a developer to recreate this airport scenery, but I think that it could've been done a lot better. I hope Aerosoft, or even ORBX, updates this airport to look closer to it's real life counterpart. Hoping for a future update, I would like to have the options to display static aircraft scenery only in single player, single player ai traffic, higher resolution textures for the ground and buildings, all season support, and some kind of night lighting.-3 Beef Jerky Sticks out of 5-
